Native Fauna of Chile (post 9)

Chile is well known for his variety in flora and fauna, but today I’m going to talk about the different kind of animals that make up the native fauna of Chile. In the north we have an extreme kind of climate, but that it’s not an obstacle to the formation of native fauna, we have Big animals like Llamas, Vicuñas and Guanacos, also little animals like the Chinchilla and Vizcacha a little kind of rabbit. In the center of the country the variety of animals it’s higher with different species of “big cats” as the Colocolo, the Guiña and the puma; also we can find a characteristic fox of the center zone of Chile, the Zorro Culpeo. When we get closer to the south we can see that the variety of native fauna increases with a lot kind of animals like rodents as the Coipo or the Degu; also we have some species like the Pudú and the Huemul. Other important family of native fauna of Chile’re the Marsupials, composed with only 4 especies, wich are threatened: The “Llaca”, the “Comadrejita de vientre blanco” , the “Monito del monte” and the “Comadrejita trompuda”.Resultado de imagen para monito del monte

The Chilean Palm (post 8)

My favorite Chilean tree is the Chilean Palm; his scientific name is Jubaea chilensi. This tree, it is not a real tree, it is a palm tree, that mean the jubaea chilensis doesn’t have a real log with hardwood, the Chilean palm have a stipites, which is a stem made with the remains of the deciduous leaves base of the palm.
The Chilean palm is native to southwestern South America, where it is endemic to a small area of central Chile, corresponding to the Region of Coquimbo, Region of Valparaiso, where it is most abundant, Metropolitan Region of Santiago, Region of O'Higgins and in the province of Curicó.

Unfortunately this specie is danger of extinction; this is because the high demand of products that the Chilean palm provides for example the leaves can be used to sweep the streets and parks, his fruits usually called “coquitos” are a gourmet treat for some people, even the sap of the palm its commercials as “miel de palma”. That reasons are why this Endemic plant of Chile it’s so vulnerable and why we have to take care of it.

Coq au Vin

I’m always thought that my favorite dish was something very fatty like a Hawaiian Pizza, or hamburgers or hot dogs but my mind, and stomach, was woke up when I met the coq au vin, my new favorite dish.
Now I thinking that all of you are wondering what the heck is that? The coq au vin it’s a colloquial dish of the old France, the origin of this plate is that in the War of Rome against the Gallic people, to make fun of how hard it was for the Roman army to conquer Gaul, a Gallic chief sent to Julius Caesar a strong and aggressive cock as a symbol of Gallic determination .Shortly afterwards, during a truce, Julius Caesar has invite this chief to lunch, serving him a bird bathed in thick and tasty red sauce. When the chief was interested in the dish they tasted, Caesar informed him that what they ate was the rooster he gave him, marinated in wine (Roman symbol) and cooked long and very slowly.
The coq au vin apart of the cock also has carrots, potatoes, onions and mushrooms kitchens with vine.

My favorite Piece of technology

The fidget Spinner

A fidget Spinner is a type of stress-relieving toy, which is invented in 1990, but it was not until 2017 that it became a popular object. A basic fidget spinner consists in 3 blades that spin around a bearing, the materials of productions of the Fidget Spinner including brass, stainless steel, titanium, copper and plastic. The toy has been advertised as helping people who have trouble with focusing or fidgeting (such autism or anxiety). The Experts were divided on this claim, with some supporting it while others disputed its scientific basis and argued the toy may actually be more distracting.

The first time when I see a fidget spinner was on a video in Youtube since then I think the fidget spinner is the greatest invention of the decade, maybe of the century Compared even with fire, the wheel or the Internet.
